Bible in a Year: Don’t Forget to Remember Day 1: Genesis 1-2

Our ladies Wednesday night small group has been working through a year long Bible study, “The Bible in a Year,” by Kandi Gallaty. We are a couple of weeks in and we are all loving it!

I’m loving it so much that …you know me… I don’t want to forget to remember!

So, I thought I’d share some of my notes from the study. We are working our way through the Bible and covering the Scriptures that are “foundational passages that every disciple should know.” The book follows a “H.E.A.R.T.” acronym for journaling each day. She has us:

Highlight verses that speak to you.

Explain what the passage means.

Apply what God is saying in these verses.

Respond to what you’ve read.

Truth to remember to share.

All that to say, I wanted to share my reflections here and maybe you can glean from them, or better yet, chime in to the conversation!

I won’t share all of my notes everyday, but mainly will focus on the short 1-2 sentences I really want to remember about the “Apply” and the “Truth.”

Day 1: Genesis 1-2

Highlight verses that speak to you: I wrote all of things God did that stuck out to me: God sent, God saw, God created, God blessed, God made, God finished, God rested, God planted, God formed! Aren’t those amazing and wonderful verbs?!

Explain what the passage means. Everything we are and have comes from God. We were created because God wanted us.

Apply what God is saying in these verses. It’s all about God…we just need to respond!

Respond to what you’ve read. What power & authority! Why do we even stress & worry when God is ALL!

Truth to remember to share. God REALLY is in control!

Check back tomorrow for another H.E.A.R.T. Talk!
